Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

What is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based practice that has been proven as the most effective treatment for individuals with autism.  ABA is a field of psychology that is dedicated to studying and understanding human behavior as well as working to improve socially significant behaviors.  ABA focuses on skill acquisition, teaching new functionally related alternative behaviors, as well as academic, self-care, motor, and social skills.  ABA is effective due to its foundation in scientific research and data collection.  The scientific research has been conducted in both controlled settings as well as in the natural environment.  Each treatment program that is created in ABA is individualized based on the individual and their specific needs.

Our Approach

Managing Overwhelming Moments offers ABA therapy using a collaborative approach to provide professional, data driven, and evidence-based services to help each client reach their fullest potential.  Our team provides therapeutic services as well as fun and supportive programs for children ages 2-12 with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Along with using the evidence-based science of Applied Behavior Analysis we also use the Verbal Behavior Approach (VBA) to increase communication and functional skills through teaching in the natural environment.

New clients will receive a behavior assessment that will determine their strengths and deficits.  A parent interview will be conducted along with the behavior assessment and the results from both will be used to create an individualized treatment plan.  Our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) along with our Psychologist will create distinctive goals to address your child's individual needs.  Your child will receive one-on-one therapy from one of our highly trained behavioral therapists that will implement the goals from the treatment plan.  Each of our therapists will be supervised by the BCBA to ensure consistency in the delivery of services.
